The Obi–Kwankwaso Movement has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council as part of its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The movement is supporting the joint presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who are contesting under the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
The newly announced structure includes representatives from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, the Federal Capital Territory and all 36 states.
The campaign council has also created positions covering several areas of political mobilisation and campaign organisation, including grassroots mobilisation, women’s affairs, strategy and planning, security and intelligence, legal affairs, information technology, administration, procurement and contact and engagement.
John Ughulu, the Director-General of the movement, has been appointed Director-General of the campaign council, while National Secretary Saadatu Sani will serve in the campaign leadership structure.
Announcing the council, the movement said its objective is to establish a nationwide organisational structure capable of taking the Obi–Kwankwaso message from the national level down to communities and grassroots political structures.
Saadatu Sani described the appointment of council members as a responsibility rather than simply political recognition. She called on members to demonstrate discipline, commitment, leadership and teamwork.
According to the movement, the campaign structure is intended to take the political message of Obi and Kwankwaso to cities, states, local government areas, wards and communities across Nigeria.
The movement also said its political project was centred on what it described as the possibility of building a more prosperous, united and functional Nigeria.
However, the 59-member structure is not the formal presidential campaign council of the Nigeria Democratic Congress. The movement has clarified that the party’s official presidential campaign council is expected to be announced separately.
The development comes as political parties and presidential candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 election and begin establishing the structures needed for nationwide mobilisation.
