The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated its campaign council for the 2027 general elections.
The council was inaugurated by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, who is serving as its chairman.
Speaking at the inauguration in Abeokuta, Abiodun directed members of the council to begin consultations, grassroots mobilisation and engagement with voters across the state.
The governor said the campaign organisation must reach all 20 local government areas, 236 wards and polling units in Ogun State.
He urged members to take the party’s message to markets, farms, workplaces, religious communities, professional associations, neighbourhoods and individual homes.
Abiodun also said the campaign should focus on issues, achievements and a clear vision rather than simply relying on political reputation or large rallies.
He called for unity and discipline within the APC and warned members against factionalism, indiscipline and political sabotage.
The campaign council contains committees responsible for areas including strategy, mobilisation, reconciliation, finance, security, media, youth and women engagement, welfare, transportation, digital communication, protocol and traditional and religious affairs.
Abiodun also instructed the council to communicate what his administration considers its achievements in infrastructure, education, agriculture, healthcare, security, investment promotion and social intervention.
He specifically highlighted the Gateway International Airport, describing it as an important part of Ogun’s plans to develop an integrated aviation, agriculture, industrial and logistics hub.
The governor also warned that government achievements could be misunderstood if they were not properly communicated. He therefore urged the campaign organisation to respond to misinformation with facts and clarity.
Former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba, who is the Grand Patron of the campaign council, also called on APC members to put aside personal disagreements and work together for the party.
The APC governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, urged members across the state to regard the election as a collective responsibility and encouraged grassroots mobilisation.
The inauguration marks the beginning of the party’s formal campaign organisation in Ogun State as political preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
