Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu has been ruled out of Trabzonspor’s UEFA Europa Conference League fixture against Scottish side Heart of Midlothian after suffering an injury, dealing a setback to the Turkish club ahead of the European encounter.
The development was reported by Dikkasmedia Nigeria on October 22, 2026, with Trabzonspor’s coach providing an update on the striker’s condition and expected return. Onuachu has been an important attacking option for the Turkish side, and his absence could affect the team’s plans for a match in which scoring opportunities and attacking efficiency will be crucial.
Onuachu sustained the injury during Trabzonspor’s 4–2 victory over Finnish club KuPS on October 15. The Nigerian forward opened the scoring early in the match but was forced off in the 10th minute, raising concerns about his fitness and availability for subsequent fixtures.
The injury also forced him to miss Trabzonspor’s Turkish Super Lig meeting with Beşiktaş on Monday. His absence against Hearts means the club will have to adjust its attacking options for the European fixture, with other forwards expected to shoulder the responsibility of leading the line.
Trabzonspor manager Thomas Reis said Onuachu could return for the league match against Rizespor on October 26. However, if the striker is not fit enough by then, his comeback could be delayed until the club’s meeting with Gaziantep FK on November 1.
The 32-year-old has made 11 appearances across all competitions this season, starting eight matches and scoring three goals. His physical presence, ability to hold up the ball and finishing in the penalty area have made him an important option for Trabzonspor.
For the Super Eagles, Onuachu’s recovery will also be worth monitoring as Nigeria continues preparing for its upcoming international commitments. A prolonged absence could disrupt his rhythm, although the immediate priority will be ensuring that he returns without aggravating the injury.
