Laide Bakare Rejects Eniola Badmus’ Apology, Calls It “Fake”

Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has rejected an apology from her colleague, Eniola Badmus, describing it as a “fake apology” following a renewed public disagreement between the two actresses.

Badmus apologised on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, after facing criticism over her reaction when Bakare’s name was mentioned during an appearance on content creator Isbae U’s podcast, Curiosity Made Me Ask.

During the interview, Isbae U named Bakare as one of his favourite actresses. Badmus appeared to hiss and change her facial expression, prompting discussions on social media about the strained relationship between the pair.

In a statement shared on Instagram, Badmus acknowledged that her reaction could have appeared dismissive and expressed regret over how it was perceived.

“On reflection, I realise my reaction when Laide Bakare’s name was mentioned during my recent interview could have come across as dismissive, and for that, I sincerely apologise,” she wrote.

Addressing her colleague directly, Badmus added that she wanted to move beyond their differences.

“Laide, whatever our differences, I choose peace and I genuinely wish you well,” the actress stated.

She also reflected on personal growth, saying maturity involves learning from past experiences and choosing to move forward without holding grudges.

However, Bakare was unconvinced by the statement. In her response on Instagram, she dismissed the apology as “fake”, suggesting that the latest development had not resolved the disagreement between them.

The controversy followed Bakare’s earlier criticism of Badmus on Monday, October 19. Bakare accused her colleague of repeatedly damaging her reputation and described her as ungrateful, claiming she had played a significant role in supporting Badmus’ career.

The actresses have a history of public disagreements. Their differences attracted attention in 2024 following comments by Badmus about Bakare’s outfit at a book launch. Tensions resurfaced at the April 2025 premiere of Owambe Thieves in Lagos, where their interaction also generated public discussion.

The latest exchange has renewed conversations among Nollywood followers about the longstanding feud. With Bakare publicly dismissing the apology, it remains unclear whether the actresses will reach a reconciliation.
